Sustainability is one of the most important issues currently facing our world and, in the hospitality industry relates to hotel development and operations, including the environmental, the company’s governance and social impact.
Casas Vivas resorts is located in a special protected area where larger properties can never be built. Our development goal is to seek those locations where each property is unique and offers unforgettable & unique experiences.
Being “Small & Beautiful” ensures we will be able to maintain “sustainability” at the core of our operations. We are aligned with the International best-practices and the engineering and accessibility designs were made according to a Sustainability Matrix where we got a top score.
Casas Vivas will have the ESG certification BCorp, folowing a few of the partners that we will work with and with the main goals to attract and retain talent and to help to the development of the local communities.
Energy & Water Conservation
We endeavour to go carbon-neutral in an effort to cause the least possible damage to the beautiful locations we are located in. The resort is powered by a combination of geothermal and solar energy and the best sustainable solutions in irrigation and water savings.
Food
Casas Viva’ property is Organic Certified with a 5000 sqm agriculture produce, to offer a real organic farm-to-table healthy cuisine for our guests to learn and enjoy the best of regional cuisine.
Cleaning Products
Recognizing the importance of safer products for guests and employees, we will use products made with bio-based oils and other natural cleaners.
Plastic
We will ban the use of single use plastic on the property. In our interior spaces, we will endeavour to only use plastic that has been up cycled or recycled from sustainable design brands.
Sustainable Design
Keeping local crafts traditions and respecting cultural heritage is a key brand value. We endeavour to bring international designers to work with local craftsman & artisans to co-create new pieces to be featured in our properties.
We will also support design brands working in Portugal and in other countries to help preserve cultural traditions. Guests will be able to enjoy the best of heritage and made by hand pieces.
Each “living house” suite will be decorated with sustainable design furniture and interiors. We will feature the best of “Made by Hand” artisan traditions from Portugal and beyond.
